Frequently asked questions
General
Getting to South Africa is easy, with numerous international airlines servicing both Johannesburg and Cape Town. To reach our hunting area, simply connect to a domestic flight to Port Elizabeth or East London. Port Elizabeth is our preferred gateway due to its convenient location, and we can arrange transfers from either airport.
Should your international flight arrive too late for a same-day domestic connection, we recommend an overnight stay at the City Lodge Hotel at OR Tambo Airport, followed by an early morning flight.
Please ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your trip.
South Africa offers excellent hunting opportunities year-round, but the prime hunting season runs from March to September, during the cooler, drier months.
Reduced vegetation and limited water sources make game easier to spot, creating ideal hunting conditions.
Each season offers a unique experience, and we are happy to help you choose the best time based on your preferred species and hunting goals.
We recommend packing comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing suitable for outdoor activities.
Essential items include sturdy walking boots, a warm jacket for cool mornings and evenings, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, and any personal medications.
If you are bringing your own firearm, ensure you have all the necessary documentation.
A detailed packing list can be provided before your safari.
The Eastern Cape covers nearly 14% of South Africa and enjoys a sunny, temperate climate for most of the year.
Typical temperatures:
Summer (October–March): 16°C to 36°C (60°F to 97°F)
Winter (June–September): 7°C to 20°C (44°F to 68°F)
Winter is generally regarded as the best hunting season, offering comfortable daytime temperatures and excellent hunting conditions. Mornings and evenings can be particularly cold, with temperatures occasionally dropping below freezing. We recommend packing warm clothing, including a beanie, insulated jacket, and several layers to ensure comfort during early starts in the field.
Yes, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for all guests. Your policy should cover trip cancellations, medical emergencies, evacuation services, lost luggage, and firearm coverage if applicable. Travel insurance provides peace of mind and helps protect you against unexpected events before and during your safari.
